Hi
I am trying to create a cylinder with a simple extruded spike pattern on the outer surface of the cylinder.
Ive been trying to do this with the sheet metal tool, creating the extruded pattern on the unfolded cylinder. However when i fold the cylinder back up it does not keep any of the extruded spike i have made.
Not sure how else i can complete this.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
No specific reason im doing it in sheet metal apart from that i didnt know how to do it using the linear/circle pattern tools.
how would I go about creating this using those tools??

i am following the guidelines in your video, however i am then having trouble with:
1) having the bristle at different heights (20mm long and 18.5 short, in a pattern around the circle of two long and one short)
2) adjusting the second row of bristles so they fall in line with the center of the gap between the line before

To create second row of bristles to a different height means you have to repeat the sketch as per the video but just extrude it at a different height
2)
To align the locations of the second row a new plane sketch will have to be created such that first reference is the same plane as the first sketch and have it angled to the correct value. You will need to work out the angle based on the amount circular pattern count. Then use this plane as your sketch reference.
I am unsure of the patterning of the bristles along the length of the cylinder so maybe a combination of these bristles and skip instances are required. You may be able to do it in one pattern or maybe a few sets of patterns depending on how you want the bristles along the length of the cyclinder
You should move/add the features above flat pattern feature. Anything below that will only appear when flat pattern is unsuppressed.
Any specific reason you doing it in sheet metal and not on simple cylinder? You can extrude one spike and then use linear/circular pattern to create the others.
