I'm curious about the new SW2015 surface unwrapping feature. If I load a hemisphere surface, will the software recommend the best cut-lines for an unwrap?
If you use the Flatten Surface feature on a hemisphere in 2015, I believe you will get a a large round disk for output.
So essentially, it's simply projecting the surface to a plane?
I don't think it projects, I think it stretches and flattens. So the circle would be larger than the hemisphere diameter, but it won't be cut up like a Goode homolosine map.
I wonder if I added a small cut (or more than one) to the hemisphere, how would it react?
