The 3 rectangles in the profile tend to not extrude with the rest of the profile. I think that may be causing my problem. The sketch extrudes just fine so long as its done via choosing contours. It says Invalid member profile, check your library.
I even added a point to pierce, and still no dice. Im out of ideas.

Alright, Thanks for all the help had I of waited 10 min I would have found the solution but now, Im able to share MY solution.
What I did was extruded the contours that I needed from the profile, then started a sketch on the bottom of that extrusion and converted all entities and copied that over to my library part file and replaced what I had sketched and viola!! Worked like a charm. Hope this helps someone else

That is so great to know. How would the "error" have manifested itself had I have fully defined the sketch? Or is there another tequnique for locating layered lines other than the, now, obvious darker lines?

under tools, sketch tools, there is "check sketch for feature" which will tell you there is a problem and try to highlight it. I found the specific spot by dragging a box to select small groups of lines and see if the number of items selected was as expected.
and no, fully defining the sketch would not have highlighted or prevented THIS problem. it is to define your "design intent" and prevent unintended changes in the future.
