Mate a tube cutout.

Please take a look at the attached image.

I made a cutout of a tube using a thickened surface wrapped around a curved surface. Likewise I made an insert.

The fit niceley, I can mate the outer surfaces and move the insert using Physical Dynamics.

Now I want to mate it in such a way that the insert slides into the cutout without intersecting the tube. (When I drag without physical dynamics).

I can't select the edges of the cutout or insert while creating a mate. And I also can't seem to mate the surfaces where the insert touches the cutout.

A screw mate might be able to do that.

If the top surfaces are flat, use a limit mate. If not, you could create a plane across the top of the cut and then create a limit mate between it and a vertice on the insert.

Using a mate limit on the top surfaces would only prevent it from moving too far in up-down direction right? Rotation around the axis of the tube would still be possible. What I want is the upwards translation to be coupled with the rotation around the center axis in such a way that it slides in and out of the 'rectangular' gap shown in the image.

Can you create a coincident mate between and edge of the cutout and one of the corners of the insert that touches said edge?

No, Solidworks won't let me select the edge of the cutout when creating a mate.
