We have to provide STEP files of multi-component assemblies to customers but want to make the component parts inaccessible. Is there a way to make only an assembled external shell? Or otherwise make the component parts fairly useless?
there is one way:
step-1 : save your file as solidworks part file (select 'outer surface only' option during saving)
step-2 : save that part file into step file.
this way, end user will get least possible information and you will be able to provide sufficient information
hope it helps
Your best bet is to just delete the internal components from the assembly and then save as a STEP file. Then to take it a step further (no pun intended) you can try to open the part and combine bodies of parts that are touching each other to merge them together. Once you have stuff combined as much as possible you can save as STEP again.
suppress component you can not export and save to STEP. Answer No in msg box.
