How do I add additional part assemblies that have been separated out as individual SLDASM files into an existing (opened) SLDASM (that's been saved as an SMG file)?
I can open each SLDASM (which Composer shows as a new document tab), select the actor hierarchy (several hundred parts), copy it/them, switch to another open document/tab, but CANNOT PASTE it/them into it! That is, the copy buffer appears NOT to be a global buffer, but a per-document buffer. BAD, bad, bad on so many levels!
Work around, please!
Dean,
Are you wanting to join these assemblies in Solidworks or in Composer. I am just trying to clarify since you are talking in both Composer and Solidworks file extensions.
I am going to assume in Composer and answer that way for now. To combine assemblies or parts to an existing smg go to File> Open> select the file you want to add sldasm ,sldprt, or smg file extension> check the merge into current document button and click open.
That will open you new assembly/part into the smg file you currently have open. It may come in as turned off depending on your properties in Composer but just activate it and you are done.
Cheers,
Derek
