How can you modify the appearance of weld beads?

In my assembly, I am using the "weld bead" feature to show where the weld beads need to be placed.  My goal is to display my welded assembly in a drawing using multiple 3D views showing details of where, and in what order, the welds need to be fabricated.  I am partially able to do this (see attached Assembly & Drawing), however, I would like to at least change the appearance of the weld bead so that it will stand out (e.g. modify their colours so that I can easily discriminate between different welds in my notes...such as the "red" welds are made first, the "green" welds are made second, etc.).

Intuitively, I have tried to drop appearances onto the weld, as well as dropping appearances onto the weld listed in the "Weld Folder", but nothing works.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to get at, and modify, the appearance properties of weld beads?

Note that I found a reference regarding "cosmetic weld bead feature data", but the thread was 4 years old.
