I want to indicate serial no.s in the exploded view of assembly as in the bill of material of that assembly
Can you use balloons??
These Balloons will acquire the parts no. automatically or I have to put manually
I don't think there is a way to automatically make the number match the BOM on the drawing. The default numbering is based off of the order of components in the tree. You can insert a BOM in the assembly and re-order it as desired, then link the balloons to that BOM. With that method it might be easy enough to compare the assy BOM to the drawing BOM and make sure they match.
To change the numbering scheme just click on the balloon and there is a drop down menu in the balloon settings.
As Deepak mentioned you can add balloons to an assembly. However they might display strangely when you have it rotated at certain angles (this may depend on settings).
It appears that any other shape besides circle will display correctly at any angle.
Tools-Options-Display/Selection: Display notes flat to screen
I had notes displayed flat to screen, notice how the actual numbers look right. It is just the circular balloons that got messed up. However it might have been a graphic card issue, that was done on my laptop at home. At work the balloons show up correctly at any angle.
If you want to have the balloons in a drawing or an assembly show up as a serial number, create a cutsom property in your part called "serial no." then in the either control select all the balloons or set this option for the first balloon you create (once you don't exist the command all balloons you create will have the same options set,) and set the balloon text options to custom properties and you should be able to find your new property called "Serial No." in the bottom drop down menu then your balloon will show the "Serial No." for the part.
Hope this helps
