Is it possible to display a reference geometry (axis, plane) but not its name? In other words, Can I hide the name of plane or axis?
Not that I know of, although you could change the name to something less obtrusive like a dot, comma or colon, or a single letter or number.
Why do you need to?
I had the idea and renamed it "1", but the dot is a good idea too.
Our shop is opening the cad file with eDrawing and they need to see an axis. The only way I found to enable that is if I show the axis in Solidworks and save it. Great, you see the axis in eDrawing, but you also see its name and its written BIG! It overlaps the cad actually.
I would like to be able to do the same thing, or at least make the text smaller.
As you can see from the image below, when in routing it's often very hard to pick out an axis for routing due to the text.....& this is a relatively clear example
I usually hide the ones I'm not using and only turn on the ones I need for whatever operation I am using. This way you only have one or two to pick from and not all of them.
Tools > Options > Document Properties > Detailing
Under "Point, Axis, and Coordinate System" choose "Hide Names"
Thanks for your input. I checked the "Hide Names" option but it made no difference. Neither did changing the font or the size in the option below that, nothing altered.
Kevin, I was reading thru this post (How do I hide or remove these while I do wire routing?) and I found out that one need to set this option for individual component. So did you tried doing that?
Looked in the knowledge base and found this.
Seems like there is no solution although it was last looked at in 2014.
What does "Hide Names" do, if it doesn't actually hide the names?
It does what it says. At least with 2017 and 2020:
You are correct. I didn't have it turned off in all of the parts.
