Transient stuff like this should work in Cosmos Motion. It uses a lumped parameter solver to simulate dynamics of inflexible components. geostar also supports transient time history analysis in their post dynamic module.
This simulation should work in CM. If there is an angle mate created in the joints folder in CM when you defined the initial position in SW then suppress it and make sure that concentric joint is set to Rotate Z, Free.
That was in CosmosExpress - but I guess it's not powerfulenough.
CosmosMotion does seem like it'll handle this sort of motion - willplay with it.
