I have got a teeth model to do an analysis. But I need to add the periodontal ligament over the surface of teeth(PDL).Can any one suggest me how to do that?
If it is constant thickness you could make a copy of the tooth body, then shell it outward at the thickness you want the PDL. Then you can cut away whatever you don't want.
My model has got 16 teeth assembled together.I have got problem that when i opened in solid works it is not viewing as solid body with smooth surface instead all over the surface its a connected lines. Its like so many lines form in the shape of triangle joine together to form a surface. Can I make it smooth. Then I think what you suggested will be work smoothly
Was the model an stl file? If that is the case then you will not be able to build onto it or make it a solid body.
I have got it in most of the format.
Now this is the picture of the teeth I have which is opened in Abaqus and solid works.
I will redefine the questions I have
Now this what I want to do.In addition I want that PDL ligament over the surface. Also if you observe the model in solid works its made up of cells
1.I want to make a smooth solid model. Is it possible i.e to single face for each tooth?.
2.Not able to locate the coordinates.I would like to get the same?
3.I want to make the archwire in the form or arc over the teeth surface. How can I get the measurements?
4.Unless i locate the coordinates I cant position my brackets and arch wire and also I cant maintain a distance between the wire and miniscrew? Is there any way?
Hope you got my question.
I have never dealt with models like that so I'm afraid I can't help. Maybe someone else has some suggestions for you.
its okae.expecting someone
For converting to a smooth solid model, we do have an add-in called ScanTo3D but it only comes in the SOLIDWORKS Premium package. Details here:
