I'm new to Solidworks but have a background in AutoCad Electrical. I'm trying to set up our title block templates and can't figure out how to align anything. Nothing about aligning objects or text? I realize that I will be using snap on my drawings but where I'm having troubles is in setting up my title block and rungs. The rungs are created by two different standard attributes. I'd like to align the bottoms of these text fields. Also, I'd like to be able to set the text alignment as "middle center" if I'm entering an attribute in the center of a circle. Am I missing how to do a pretty standard, basic step? Or is this feature lacking in SWE?
Of all the electrical software packages I've looked at, SWE actually had some of the best built-in drawing tools. If you're looking to align things, make sure you're using your object snaps and grid snaps. You can specify a different grid for each symbol or block (a nuisance and a blessing) so maybe for the title blocks you use a finer grid. Additionally, since you're coming from AutoCAD, you might download the basic version of Draftsight. The look and feel is so similar to AutoCAD that you can skip dealing with the "newness" of SWE and just draft like you know how. Importing linework from a DXF file to SWE was a snap. That way you can afford to be a little more precise when doing graphical work.
