We recently upgraded to SolidWorks 2014 from 2012 and we've been getting this error when going to edit some of the cut list parameters for parts in a weldment. I can't figure out why this error is occurring.
From the attached picture it looks as though it's referencing the dowel pins but that's just a guess on my part.
Any ideas as to what's causing this to happen? Thanks in advance.

I've tried opening the dowel pin but it's a Toolbox file so I don't know what else to do.
Suppress those pins and then check if issue is still there.

If i suppress the pins the error still occurs but it then highlights the datum buttons that are on the weldment. If I then suppress those along with the dowel pins the error does not pop up. Also as a side note when i get into the the properties of the first cut list item I am unable to edit any of the fields, I have to delete rows and start all over again.
As per knowledge base SPR #: 751639, this seems to be a bug. Please report to your VAR

Would the fact that dowel pin that I inserted into this weldment was made in 2012 version of SW possibly have anything to do with this?
Any chance if you can upload the files to check? Would bee the dowel pins files also.
The question marks indicates that the reference these 3 files had, is now lost. If the models refs are static perhaps you can break the link instead. But upload the model if you can.

This part is the culprit: 19306
Location of parent part: G:\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2012\design library\FIXTURE TOOLING\19306.sldprt. Can you check if this file is available?

Here's is the 19306 part file.
Attached is the fixed file. I copied the file to G:\SolidWorks\SolidWorks 2012\design library\FIXTURE TOOLING. Then edited the insert part feature and removed the custom property check.

What was causing the problem with this? After I had sent you both files I went into the 19306 file and saved the file and inserted it into back into the parent file and everything was working as before. Was it the simple fact that the part file wasn't saved in SW 2014 format?

I just noticed that my custom properties for the part 19306 are not populating in my cut list. Would you have any idea why this is happening?
The weldment cut list uses "as welded" configuration an d you've the features/bodies suppressed in that. Unsuppress them and update cut list. Finally check the cut list in the drawing.

I can't really do that because of the process of how this part is made. The part goes in 3 processes so to speak, consisting of a weldment process, a machining process and then an assembly process which is where the 19306 datum buttons and the dowel pins are put on the part.
Patrick, in that case this is a current limitation. Please vote for SPR #: 595481
As a workaround please insert an intended BOM with detailed cut list option. Use the assembly configuration for the macro.

Looks like it is because if those pins only. Not in front of SW so can't test/check it out. Can you please open those files and update as per the message.
