Good morning all,
Whilst creating a weldment in sw 14 ive noticed a lot of options are missing in the properties/summary info/property name section.
part number
revision
finish ect ect
now when i open property manager the propety name section is completely blank, nothing to select at all. Ive attached a screen shot, many thanks in advance
Make sure that weldment custom file property had been set under Tools > Options > File Locations

Looks like the settings to the "properties" files have gone missing, could be a path problem.
I think SolidWorks is moving away from user ASCII files over to the Property Tab Builder.

You need to check for Weldment Property File.

Oli, I think you have answered your own question. The path you show is to ....\Solidworks 2013\....... your question is for "SW 14"
I have found that each version of SolidWorks wants its own path, so I keep my templates, parts, properties etc in/under the same "C:\SolidWorks Libraries\" folder and re-map SolidWorks on each release.
how do i remap sw? thanks alan
I used to have sw13 and then the company i work for upgraded using solidworks installation manger which then upgraded sw13 to 14. All our settings weldments files ect were kept as the new sw14 was i guess a partial install to the original. It may be a case of getting in touch with sw customer services if no body knows how i can rectify this issue. Deepak there was nothing in that location heres the screen shot. You should be looking for weldmentproperties.text file. Can you search for this file in the installation directory.
searched (c:) drive which is the drive sw is installed on and have had 0 files found in that directory with that name.
Oli Jones I'm extremely sorry as not sure why I had been asking you for weldment properties.
You need to check Custom file properties which should be > File Locations > Custom Property Files. The file name is properties.text file.

@ Deepak, I don't think that is what Oli is looking for.
I don't use weldments, but I do use properties directly in SolidWorks as Oli is working i.e. From the top menu bar "File>Properties..."
In a part file that path references the "properties.prtprp" file, in an assembly its the "properties.asmprp" file so presumably he is looking for something like a "properties.wldprp" file.
Those files used to be a plain ASCII file but using the "Property Tab Builder" now they open with the 1st line as "<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>"

It appears this .text file is missing as ive done the search you have just suggested and nothing found as shown.
Oli try/use the attached file. Copy/move it to a known location and set that path under the File Locations > Custom Property File.
thats exactly what im missing deepak thank you now i just need to figure how to copy that file to the correct place. ive copied here for now but it doesnt show up as a folder when i add the new directory route in file locations/weldment property file.

The file won't appear as folder. You just need to select the folder in which the file has been copied. And then you would see the properties in the drop down menu when adding properties to models.
