How to import the file into the composer: (which is correct option?)
Both processes are correct. In the first example, the SOLIDWORKS Composer Add-In is using the Default Document Properties that you have saved to the Registry. In the second example, if you simply open the file directly into SOLIDWORKS Composer, the sames settings are used.

I generally have this checked on as I don't always need to see the individual bodies of a part in my SW Composer documents. That being said, I'll turn it off if I am documenting a weldment part and need to move the individual bodies around.
