I am manually routing some tubing and would like to have a dimension for the length of tubes.
Path length is grayed out and smart dimension will not generate a value.
One fairly simple way to accomplish this is to calculate the volume of the swept tube. Assuming your cross section is constant, the length can be easily calculated.
upgrade to version SW2014; you can now dimension the length of 2D and 3D splines.
I am using SW2014, the problem might be that the geometry is a fit spline with no constraints.
Get a message " A dimension could not be created from the selected items ".
Is the fit spline being define with an underlying spline or splines or other sketch geometry? If so you can click on the fit spline and then use the "select other" to select the underlying geometry to dimension. If the fit spline is made up of multiple pieces of geometry then you will have to dimension each of them separately and then sum them.
