In 2014, the mirror part feature can only transfer custom properties to the new part if it is multi-body. An unwanted weldment feature is also created in mirrors of single-body parts.
Workaround:
1. cut original part in half
2. mirror part
3. delete cut
I'm running SW 2014 service pack 0.0. SW 2013 didn't have this issue. It happens when using the Insert>Mirror part command, with the checkbox for Custom Properties set. Somebody else reported this as SPR 735690, so it's not just me.
I do not have this issue either, and I am on 2014 SP 4.0. Maybe it is something that has been fixed after SP 0.0, so I'd suggest getting the latest service pack.
I am running SP 2.0 with no issues.
Hmm...this is what I see when I open the properties of the derived part. I wonder if you could type this expression in as a work around as well???
SPR 735690 was fixed in SW2014 sp1.0.
