I have been experiencing an issue in which I place an empty part in an assembly, which gives reference to an external document.
Given that it is a REF document I elect to have the BOM QTY as REF, however I only get the QTY (1) and not REF.
I have tried to change the BOM QTY to REF but it does not work. Does anyone have any tips?

Yes, however I do not want to manually override the cell, instead I want it to be automated. I've been able to do this process with other drawings, however I can not with this assembly.
You need to create an "IF" statement in the BOM Template for the Qty column to have the Ref show up. Also you will need to add a Custom Property to the Reference document to refer to in your "IF" statement.
What do you mean it does not work?
You can double click in a BOM cell to edit.
A warning will pop-up.
