Have been reading some of the posts and just wanted some knowledgeable opinions whether my
build is good:
CPU: Intel i7-4790K
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
Motherboard: Asus z97-Pro
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB DDR3-1866
Storage: Crucial MX100 512GB 2.5" SSD
Video: PNY Quadro K2000 2GB
Case: Fractal Design XL R2 ATX full tower
PSU: Seasonic 660W ATX12V
OS: Windows Pro SP1 64bit
I know that a lot of people will have different opinions, but if a component stands out as problematic
I'd love to hear.
Not much of an Oc'er but may get into it later. Uses are mainly basic CAD and assemblies with some
minor rendering. Probably no simulation now, but you never know later.
Thanks Group!
John
John,
That looks great, although I'm not an expert on system building. I'd like some feedback on these components as well from anyone that has some insight.
I'm about to build 2 workstations, and have just about the exact components you have there...Differences are we're going with the Fractal R4 Define case and we're going to try the Noctua NH-U14S air cooling, and a smaller SSD (256GB MX100). It's looking like we'll be around $1500 for the build including OS (Windows 8.1 Pro x64).
Also, we might try to get up to a Quadro K4000 depending on how we come out on the other components. We are planning on trying to overclock some just for fun too.
Check out PcPartPicker.com to check compatibility. That's been very helpful as we watch prices and try and keep track of everything we have to buy.
