Inside or Outside of the Flat Pattern when Exporting to DXF Output ?

Question asked by Trevor M on Jul 31, 2014

I am trying to understand the method in which soildowrks decides what side of the flat pattern to view (in the flat state) in the viewport, as well when the flattened part is exported to DXF and the sheet metal option is choesn when exporting. Not understanding the logic is a big issue when nesting parts that require a finished surface (plastic coated) to the outside on the burn tableand or parts that require bending following cutting. The cut parts also need to be labeled on the inside or the chances of the part being formed incorrect increases. Ive submitted a model where these issus arose today, and understanding what side the software arbitrarilly picks for the dxf dxf export need to be clearly understood.
