Check in Parasolid files instead of .SLDPRT

We deal with very large part files (up to 1Gb/file) which make it impractical and sometimes impossible to check in to PDMWorks. I am considering instead to have each designer save out parasolid at the end of the day and check-in this much smaller file instead. Actually, its the only solution I have come up with and I hope to implement it soon.

Does anyone have experience interacting with PDMW in this manner? Have you run into any headaches?

when checking in subsequent revisions, the checkin dialog box will light up "red" on these parasolid files every time.

  Kenneth, I tried my scenario, and so long as I check in an updated version of exactly the same file name (ie: "FileA.x_t"), everything seems to run smoothly.

I'm sorry this is not really an answer to your question, but I'm just curious to know what sort of models you make to have such large file sizes? What's causing that much data?
