Is there a way of saving SW files as .smg without purchasing composer.
I don't require any of composers functionality, just would like to use the composer player to view a very large model that is unusable via edrawings.
Yes, Go to add in the solidworks and add Solidworks composer.
Directly you will get the format when you use save as option in the solidworks window.
Thank you, you also need to select it as an add in.
I have some large round objects in my model, these are showing with very facted faces is there a way to increase the image quality as in SW?
Exporting from SolidWorks directly isn't ideal at the moment for that reason as there are not easy to change settings however if you are able to edit the registry to make settings it can be done. For instanace by default one crucial setting is unticked i believe (merge file into one actor per part) also you can't adjust curvature etc. The settings can be exported from a system with SolidWorks composer on it with care (standard disclaimers about editing the registry causing system problems)

Thanks for the heads up, got it sorted with my VAR, as you say not ideal but it works.
