Has anyone modified the standard Lights in SolidWorks &
saved it to their standard
templates or does everyone just add to & modify the lights on a document by document basis.
I would like to know if anyone has came up with a combination of lighting & light settings that seems to
work well in most situations (or at least a good starting point).
It seems to me that the settings for the default lights are almost always too dark.

Remember, you have 2 different lighting environments, SolidWorks & PhotoWorks.
Lights have SolidWorks Properties and PhotoWorks Properties; they don't have to be the same. For example, if the PhotoWorks rendering is too dark, add more lights or explore using HDRI spherical environments. If you add more lights, you can turn them off just in SolidWorks.
