I currently run dual monitors but I am playing with the
thought of going to triples. Anyone else out there running triples?
Problems? I am constantly flipping back and forth between
SW/Cad/Email... ect
The first multi-monitor card I go was a Matrox that supported
atriple set up. At the time I was running 21" CRT's and did nothave
room for a third. Later I got an Nvidia card that was muchbetter
but only support dual monitors.
Even running dual 21" LCD monitors, I sometimes think of
whatit would be like to have a third. If you are running
smallermonitors, I can see where it still may be limiting. I don't
knowyour plan for pulling this off, new video card, splitter
box...,but what ever you do make sure it does not effect your Open
GLperformance. It's not worth adding functionality to
yourmachine if it adversely effects SW. After all, these
aresuppose to be CAD stations.
Thanks for the reply. That's what I am mainly concerned about
is effecting the performance. I am looking at going to triple 21
flat panels. There are many times when I will be designing a new
job in one window, have a reference job in a second window and
would like to have a part drawing up and or customer specs in a
third. I just don't want to do that at the cost of performance. I
haven't looked fully into splitter box or video card option would
be better, that's why I am here to see if anyone is running this
type of setup and any issues they may have encountered. Thanks
again.
I'm not sure what the current video card
offerings are,but one item I have seen is the
Matrox TripleHead2Goproduct. Supposedly it supports Open GL
on all channels, but youneed to have a decent dual head card to use
it. See these links fordetails:
I'd be curious to see a study of how much improved efficiency
would be over a 2 display system. At what point do you begin to
think of them as one composite screen and effectively shunt
yourself back to a single monitor mentality?
Besides, is it really going to be that great? How do you like
having to look through three windows and three mirrors when you
goto change lanes in traffic? Don't you feel that twinge in rush
hour that says you missed something on one of them?
But let me know if it turns out to be the bees knees. (oooh, I said
a Britty thing)

No wonder your boss said "I can't get any work outta' thatKen"...!
*Just Kiddin'!*
I just went to a double set up and there is no way I'd go totriples...(At least for now)...
