Yesterday I was working in SolidWorks assembly designing a forming die and everything was working fine. Today, I try to insert a component and SolidWorks either locks up or crashes. I am using a lot of references between components to make features. But the one thing I think happened was I downloaded a fastener from a 3rd party and inserted it into the assembly and it crashed. I've used this source many times over the past few years with no problem other than having to hide sketches and resave. We also just installed SolidWorks 2014 and it still does it with this assembly. I tried a different assembly and I don't seem to have this problem there. It seems to only happen on the assembly I am workin gon. So I think it may have some sort of corruption. Or is there other users having this problem?
Sounds like there is something it doesnt like in the model. Save out the crash report and send it to your VAR. They can analyze the report and see what the problem is. Also go into soldiworks RX and see if your video card driver is up to date. It sounds stupid but ive had some wierd problems when i'm running an out of date driver.
