I was wondering if wrapping around the part in the attached on the outer diamter is possible. It technically is a cylindrical surface, which should be feasible for solidworks but it doesn't seem to work with half cylindrical objects. I know the surface must be planar or cylindrical but not spherical. All in all, is there a way to wrap around this part?
Try creating your sketch geometry on a plane tangent to the surface you want to wrap.
I have done that and I cannot seem to be able to select the face. Am I doing something wrong here? Please help.
I don't believe you can use a 3DSketch for a wrap sketch, looks like you are trying to do?

You can Wrap to the face of the cylindrical surface by using the Front Plane
Front Plane>Sketch. Exit sketch
Select Wrap Feature> Select Face
