It seems that the issue is with in context reference. When you break it, these values will be calculated.
Additionally, when you want to insert body to new part, try to use "Insert part" command or "Mirror part" if it is mirror. In these two cases you can transfer cut list properties so you won't be forced to break external references.

How do you create mirrored sheet metal parts?
I have checked that if you select plane or face that is plane of symetry, and then use Insert \ Mirror part - it works fine.
It will be helpful if you add some simple example files (original and mirror).

I create mirrored parts by selecting a face or plane (most of the time a plane), then choosing 'Insert->Mirrored Part'.
OK, without any example I can only ask - did you select "Cut list properties" to transfer to mirror part?
I don't see that option. I am using SW 2013, maybe its not available in this version.
This option is new for SW 2014.
You have 2 options.
1. Break external reference in mirror part - then cut list properties will be shown;
2. Create mirror within the same part in separate configuration.
