I have two BOMS per assembly. One refers to standard items such as bolts and nuts and the other refers to custom items. Can anyone suggest how I may be able to specify which BOM the balloon must refer to. i.e. select configuration. The standard items are referred to by a custom property with values ranging in excess of 200 (Custom parts in assembly do not go above 100), i.e. every standard part has a unique value from 200 to 600, while custom parts are referred to by item no. in the custom parts BOM from 1 up to number less than 100.
Thanks in advance
Just so I understand your method, do you have a configuration with only standard parts that you use to make the standard part BOM, a configuration with only custom parts to make the custom part BOM, and then a configuration with all parts that you use for an exploded view to balloon to?
One option would be to make a BOM from the configuration with all of the parts, and order it with the custom parts ahead of the standards. Then you could balloon the exploded view using the item number for the custom parts and the custom property for the standard parts and it would match that BOM. You could even split that BOM horizontally to create your separate BOMs on the drawing and then you wouldn't even necessarily need the other configurations.
One thing to remember with that method is that if you add a custom part later then you need to make sure to order it in the BOM in the correct place so it takes the next sequential number for custom parts.
