Not 100% the best way to create this cufflink front? I've done the back. Any help would be appreciated otherwise I'm off learning rhino.
Either the Flex feature, or Sweep with twist option should do.
As an Industrial Designer, Mark is probably comfortable with using either Flex or Sweep with Twist. As a mechanical engineer, I am not very comfortable with Flex and would be inclined to use Sweep with Twist. It seems to be easier for me to understand how it works and the results seem to be more "analytical".
I don't think sweep with a twist will work because the ends appear to be almost round while the center is more star-shaped, so the profile isn't constant. I think a loft might be the best way. Check out my attached example. I drew the profiles with arcs but then the loft was messing up so I did a fit spline on all the sketches, that's why they are unconstrained.
