i wanna to cut the surface round the body along the specified sketch (blue line)
how can i cut the surface from my part?
First, select the sketch you created and do Insert==>Curve==>SplitLine. In the split-line property manager, select the flange face
That will partition the flange face around your sketch.
Then select the outerface and do Insert==>Face==>Delete Face...
In the Delete Face property manager, select the "Delete" option.
Click OK and you should have the result you were looking for.
Why can't you just use the blue lines and create a cut? I think we need a better explanation of what you want to do.
Maybe post the part so that we can take a look.
Do you mean you want to cut the outer area around the blue line/sketch? If yes then a simple cut extrude should do that.
In case you looking to add a groove or chamfer for e.g. then you can try sweep cut.
i want to cut the puter area
the outer area is a surface that is a kind of wast of the body
so i have to cut the surface from the split line of the surface and the body and the extrude cut is not avaiable
may be i have problem to draw a suitable sketch and then use axtrude cut
the sketch must be fit on the edges of the part (see the pic)
It appears that you have a surface body, not a solid. If you just want to delete the flange, use Delete Face to get rid of it. Using an extrude cut will not work on a surface body.
Edit: It looks like you might have to create a Split Line with your blue sketch and then use the Delete Face tool.
If Eric is right and the body is a surface, then you can use the Trim tool to remove the outer parts of the surface. It gives you the same result as the Split Line and Delete Face, but with just one feature.
yes its a surface body and isnt a body
lets try to use split line if it works
Jerry is right, the Trim tool should work. My only concern is that sometimes SolidWorks does not like to trim right on a tangency line. So, this may, or may not, work given the quirks of the software.
Posting your model may be a better way. Then we could get our hands on it and determine what we think the best way is.
guys i still have problem
my model is a surface body and as shown in pic i just need inner area (specified with two black lines) of the blue surface and outher area must be removed.
so how can i do that?
Note that the original file was a body and i made surfaces of it with split tool beacause i just need some faces of the body to have some fluid numerical simulation.
Like Jerry stated above, you can create a sketch and then use the Trim tool to remove the parts of the surface you don't want. Or, as I stated before that, you can create a sketch, use the Split Line tool, and then use Delete Face.
tel me more about split line, i cant use it now
You'll do better to look the command up in the help system to better understand how to use it.
Just split the surface that you drew the black lines on and delete the flange face.
You can also use trim surface to remove the flange
Do it if it's easy!
i'm going crazy
i get my mistake now
u solved my problem
