    Updating Templates

    Brittani Ryan

My company is looking to update their templates.  I'm familiar with how to create new templates and so on, but what I am wondering is: is there a way that I can have Solidworks automatically bring in the NEW TEMPLATE without each of my users having to go search for it?  I'm trying to make this as easy as possible for everyone.

Thank you so much for all of your help!

You can put the templates on server or common location where everyone have access. Now map the location in every one machine for template location to that common location.

You need to set them under Tools > options > system options > File locations and also under default templates.

Your idea works when starting with a brand new drawing.  (I may be wrong)

What I am looking for is if they pull an older drawing, with an old template, that the template will automatically update to the new template, instead of having to go into the sheet properties and browseing to the location and selecting the new template.

              I hope that makes sense...
