So I have a wire in my drawing that goes from one connector to another. I need to add a splice to that wire and that splice is an actual physical part, so I would like to create a symbol and part number for it, so it can be in my BOM. How do I go about doing this? If I create a simple symbol with just one connection point and insert it along that wire run, one half of the wires always disappears. And I cannot re-draw it, either. Meaning if I have connector P1 and connector P2 and I insert a connection point halfway between them, either the wire that goes to P1 or the wire to P2 will disappear.
It's like I need a "pass-through" connection point or something...
Thoughts?
When you're talking about a splice, you're no longer talking about a single wire. A splice should have, at a minimum, two connection points.
The connection points, when you insert them, have a tail which indicates in which direction the wires must connect in order to be trimmed, which is the behavior you're seeing now.
If you add another connection point, and make it a mirror image of the first, you should get what you want. You can even have them on the same passing circuit and the signal will pass too.
