The company I work with hasn't upgraded to PDM 2014 yet, but I've already upgraded to the SW 2014 PDM Works. The adminstrator doesn't know when they will upgrade to the latest version.
Question 1: Can you run PDMworks 2013 with SWP 2014 files?
Question 2: Can I load the version 2013 of PDMworks with the 2014 version of Solidworks?

Has anyone been using a vault installed on a Virtual server, I know it isn't supported, but thought I would ask opinions

Nope. It might work, but I wouldn't recommend it. I steer clear of a Virtual Server. One problem and no support.
So are you saying "Nope" to using SW2014 and the PDMW2012 vault?
I'm saying NOPE to the thought of doing that, I would not trust it, but that does not mean it will not work. If decide to try it, I would test extensively and keep a good backup.
Steve, if I'm reading your question right. Yes, you can run SOLIDWORKS 2014 and use PDMW 2013 (the client and vault need to be 2013). We are doing this right now because PDMW2014 is not supported on Server 2003. I would always recommend you keep at the same versions whenever possible, but for now it's working for us.
