I am stumped on creating dimensions that look like this diameter dimensions below, specifically the 16.500, 16.755, 17.250....

The part is a ring, just a revolved section. 

I can make the dimensions in the full section view, but when I change the section view to only show one side, the dimension goes to zero.

If I create the dimensions in a full section and then crop the view, the dimensions just go to no place.

If I make the dimension in the parent view, I cannot move or drag the dimension to the section view.

Forshortening did nothing.

I suspect I missed something simple.
