Edge relief on manual miter flange

Hi,

Noob here

Trying to get an edge relief on the corners of a couple of miter flanges I have done manually. I created these miter flanges using the edge flange & edit flange profile; due to the geometry of the part normal miter isn't possible?

Is this too complex for the edge relief command in the model view? Or is the only way to flatten, and use the "Corner-Trim" command (which doesn't change what it looks like in the model)?

Or is there another method?

Sorry I'm away from my SW right now, isn't there a Trim Side Bends command check box in the Miter Flange command?

  It won't allow a automatic miter flange due to one of the sides not being a 90 degrees..or am I doing something wrong?
  
  I tried trim side bends in the edge flange command.

    I haven't run into this issue before, a quick fix might be to select that surface and use the Move Face command. Just offset the surface to a suitable position. You may hav eto Flip The Direction to have it 'cut'. Frequently I have had to use a solution to get the job moving, maybe someone else will reply with the actual and correct answer.

      Thanks for your suggestion Bernie.
      
      I moved the face. However, it now errors and will not allow a flat pattern due to containing features that cannot be bent.
      
      Anyone else got any ideas?

        I dislike modeling bends with 'larger' radius, though sometimes it is necessary and probably is for you. Why not use Bend Outside for the flanges? You will have to 'lower' your part profile to accomodate that though, do the sides first then the front to match the surfaces.

i'm on 2013 so i cant see what you did.
here's an alternate method.

it's a shame the miter flange won't work on a part like this.
it seems so simple.
