    Drawing Save Locations

    Greg Leff

Is there a setting to tell solidworks to save a drawing to the same location in the vault as the part or assembly drawing it is representing? It is driving me nuts to have to constently search through the vault to get to the file location the drawing should be saved under. It typically has me is stating in the location of the last file i saved but sometimes it is just somewhere random in our vault.

I don't know of a way to do what you want, but this might help. If you open the Workgroup PDM Options and go to the Vault tab, then you can check the boxes for Show selections in Project Manager for Assembly, Part, and Drawing. Once you do this if you click on a part or assembly at the top of the tree then it will jump to that part in PDM and highlight it. So when I am about to check in a drawing I just open the part, click on it in the tree to jump to it in PDM, then go back to the drawing and check it in right there.
