Is there a way to hide hidden lines in shaded with edges mode? I can't seem to find a display style that is what I want. I have attached an example of what I mean. When I display hidden lines removed, it also removes tangent edges, which is visually annoying and hard to see some surfaces. When use shaded with edges, it displays all the edges of the model, which is also visually difficult to work with, especially with complicated parts that have a lot of edges.

Shaded with Edges will not normally show hidden lines. Your second JPG looks as if the body is transparent. If it's not, then you may have a graphics card issue.
And I don't see any tangent edges at all. Do you just mean the visible edges? It's my understanding is that a tangent edge is where a curved surface intersects a flat one without a sharp edge (they're tangent).
Welcome to Solidworks! Right Click on the model and select transparency and see if that workls for you.
The Hidden Lines Removed image looks more like the Shaded display mode, and as Glenn stated, the Shaded with Edges image looks transparent.
I also agree there are no tangent edges in either image.
What I meant was visible edges. The part appears to be in transparent mode but is not. That's how it's displaying the part in shaded with edges mode. When I switch modes to hidden lines removed it looks like it should. I can also change it to transparent which removes the color. Here are more files to show you what I am talking about.Any ideas of how to fix this? It actually didn't do this until I reset my reg settings because of an unrelated problem. I recently ran Solidworks Rx it said everything was fine.
I don't think it's a simple transparency issue because I think the shading would look different where faces overlap. I'd put my money on graphics card issue. Try updating the driver for your card.
As I have mentioned I know it's not transparency. Driver was updated several weeks ago(this is around the time when I started having the problem). Just checked, and it is the most up to date version. Card is an NVIDIA Quadro FX 580. If someone has had this similar problem, and knows what it is, please let me know.
Updating the graphics card may have caused the problem. I don't claim to know much about them, but I've read other people's posts here who have said that sometimes SW doesn't necessarily support the latest graphics card drivers.

I just printed a test page and it prints the hidden lines also. Does this prove whether or not it's a graphics card issue?
Figured it out...not a graphics card issue at all. It's a setting under Options-Systems Options->Display Selection->Edge Display in Shaded With Edges Mode->HLR. Thanks to all that tried to help.
I'm glad you figured it out. It's one of those settings where you wonder why anyone would ever want it that way. They should just get rid of the option.

I agree. Here's another one that I can't imagine anyone ever having un-checked:
