How do i make a part move when another part comes in contact with it in a assembly drawing?
Then the limit distance should work as long as you only need it to push the part in one direction.
With Physical Dynamics it will do that, but you have to be moving the part with the Move tool.
I'm trying to get a part move another part when the part makes contact with it.
Attach your assembly here if you can't figure it out.
If you don't mind moving the parts with the Move tool then Physical Dynamics will work.
Do you mean all the time when you just click and drag to move a part in the assembly? If you only need this to happen between two parts pushing in one direction (for example two linear bearings on a shaft) then you can use the Limit Distance mate. Just make the minimum distance between the colliding edges 0, and the max some really large number. Then the parts will push each other.
i have a conveyor, i am trying to raise a air cylinder and when hit hits a part to lift that ppart off the table
how do you set that up for this? i the air cylinder is down until the parts comes down the belt and stops than it comes up.
If you click to start a mate, in the Advanced Mates section there is Limit Distance.
You should select the top surface of the cyliner and the bottom of the part to mate together. The first box right next to the icon is the starting position I think, so you can just set that to the vertical distance between the cylinder and the part when the part is on the conveyor. Then below that you can set the max and min distances. You probably don't have a max that thay are allowed to be apart so just set that to some high number. For the min set 0in.
The part can still go back and forth on the conveyor, and as you move the cylinder up, once the top of the cylinder is coincident with the bottom of the part then the part will start to move up with it.
Here's the fine print:
1. This will lift up the part even if the part isn't over the cylinder.
2. The part will not automatically move back down when you move the cylinder down.
That worked great. Thanks for the help..
