What does the sqilly line and $ sign mean in front of the file name when I want to open a file? Can i get rid of them, they fill uup the screen and cause a lot of scrolling to get to the real files.
They are most likely temporary files that have not been removed automatically. This happens most when SW has closed in a non-suggested manner.
By the way - welcome to the forum!
In MS Windows folder options (find in Control Panel), pick "Dont' show hidden files, folder or drives" and you'll never see those again.
