When checking out an assembly I am getting other assemblies and parts that are not in my assembly checking otu as well. In the open/checkout window the list is full of parts and assemblies that are not actually in my ain assembly model that I want to open. This is the same when I select As-Built instead of latest revision, although to a lesser degree. I am using Solidworks 2012 SP 5.0. Anyone know why this is happening?
Yes, I took old parts and saved a copy them changed and renamed the new part before checking it in. Also, this same assembly when opened on a different computer does not do this. That user gets only the parts and sub-assemblies belonging to the main assembly.
What are your settings for System Options > External References > Load Reference Documents

I set that setting to none as suggested by another poster on the forum.
With an assy open, select File > Find References to see what is actually being referenced.
Also go to Tools > Options > System Options > External References & select the Load referenced documents > None option to prevent the referenced files from being openend.
When I do the find references it lists only what it should, not all the extra stuff that it is checking out of the vault with my desired assembly. I set "Load referenced documents-None" and it still pulls up all the stuff that does not belong with my main assembly.
Was the Include broken references option selected when running the Find References tool?
It could be some kind of glitch or bug, but probably a part or sub-assy has an in-context reference (or part in part) somewhere down the line.
Not sure if the Include broken references was selected, I will run it again. The weird thing about this is that on a differnet computer in my department this does not happen. When the same assembly is checked out on that computer it does not check out all the extra stuff. We seem to have all the same settings when we were comparing them.
And yes, "list broken references" was selected.
Looks like ti is something with my drawings. Under PDM Workgroups oprtion>Command defaults tab, I had selected to "Include Drawings" under the Check out/Open section. I deselected this and then all the extra stuff disappeared the next time I tried to check out the assembly. Any ideas why the drawings would have this effect?
Haven't a clue! You should report this to your VAR as a possible bug.
You have references to those assemblies in your new designs. Did you copy older assemblies to morph into the new assemblies?
