Anyone know why this "_$$dummy@@_" keeps showing up in my tree? If I ctrl-q it goes away. Also, it isn't always on the mate folder. Just curious.
I think it as something to do with having a derived configuartion. Are you using derived configuartions?
No I don't have any derived configs in the part or assy. I have some display states but I wouldn't think that would affect it.
It looks like some sort of attachment folder. What is inside of it when you tree it out?
Can you post your part so we can look at it?
I don't really have a part to post... It is very random and not specific to one file. I'll expand the folder next time, but I would imagine it would just contain the mates.
This is strange - just did a search for this issue because we have had the same thing happening in the last few days. It is definitely random and not specific to one file (as was mentioned). Last time it replaced the name of one of the sketches of a feature within a part, with this one. So no folder there to open. It goes away when files are closed and re-opened.
Around the same time, there is another issue showing up. Let's say I have more than one part or assembly open at the same time, and am viewing just one of them, I want to change to another part which is already opened. I go to Window, and pick the other part or assembly I wish to view in the drop down, it doesn't change to that part or assembly. I have to tile the windows and pick the right one that way. Very strange. Not sure if there's any connection between these issues.
We're trying to update SW (using 2014 SP0 right now) but are having some issues with the updater taking hours and hours to download the update.
Curious to see if anyone knows what's happening.
SolidWorks has grown arrogant and obviously doesn't like your modeling approach.
But seriously, it's a totally random 2014 bug. Just got another one today, this time in an imported STEP file I've been hacking up.
But do dummies really link dimensions??? haha
Glad knowing that it happens to others as well, happened yesterday for me and after a rebuild it disappeared - once in awhile it would show up when I went to extrude. it just showed momentarily then disappeared....
I just saw this for the first time... in my case I made a sketch of multiple areas I wanted to cut and then used only part of the sketch with "contour select" and then used the same sketch again for another cut with contour select. The second cut had the sketch embedded as "_$$dummy@@_" initially and then reverted to the proper name (as embedded in the first cut) after a regen. My guess is that this is a temporary name that SolidWorks applies to a sketch used multiple times and that it usually renames itself before you get to see it... but not always.
