I want to make a spiral cut around a sphere.
It should be start from a Bottom and end at the Top and remove material uniformly.
Please find the attached file for more clarification.
Take a look at my file if you are able to open it, I'm using SW 2014. From that you should be able to follow how to do it.
You may be able to use a helix to make a swept surface. Where the surface intersects the sphere you can create a split line and I think from the split line you have created you can make a path for another ketch and perform a swept cut. I think there are a lot of ways to get the path on the sphere surface.
Please tell me more clearly about your method.
I tried but not got exact result.
Hello Kevin, Can you explain how did you make sketch spline intersected?
Once you have your solid body sphere & swept surface, choose "Intersection Curve" from the sketch tab, it's under the "Convert Entities" button on my tab. Or do a command search for it. Once you have the intersection curve you can do a swept cut using a profile sketch & the intersection curve as the path.
Hope this helps.
Thank you. I did the line, but in a different way. After sweep surface, I did split line and seperated sphere and surface sweep solid bodies. Then converted intersected lined in a 3d sketch. You can see from my file.
Hi, would you be able to repost that zip file as a 2012 file? I'm trying to do the same thing, but on an ovoid.
Many thanks in advance
