Hi I am just trying to create a veiw of a bent tube in which the bends are both on the same plane so that a thid bend in a completly different direction can be defined in the drawing file for manufacture. I did not draw this part but if I had I would have made the two bends on the same origin plane, one potential solution I have tried is to create a reference plane that is in tangent to both clyindrical surfaces as shown in the attached image, is there a way for solidworks to recognise the point at which it is possible for both surfaces to be in tangent to each other? if so this would produce the veiw I desire.
Kind Regards,
Matthew Morona.
Matthew,
You can do as you described making a plane tangent to both. Change your view normal to the plane. Hit the space bar and single click whatever you want that view to be such as front, right, top, etc. then hit the second button up top. What this will do is update your standard views and then you can make the drawing with the updatd views.
Hope this helps!!
Chris
