Texture Mapping resetting itself.

In 2007 I am applying some heavy textures to parts in an assembly. It seems much easier to set the mapping of the texture at thepart level, and I get it just the way I want it, but coming backinto the assembly, the size of the mapping and surface finish seemsto keep resetting itself to a much smaller value.  Thishappens if I edit any other shader in the assembly and is onlynoticeable when rendering.  There is a disconnect between whatis previewed in the graphics window and what you get when yourender.
