Hello,
I have a user who cannot get Solidworks to open a file or create a new file. Solidworks opens without any issues but as soon as he tries to open a part or create a new part he gets the "Solidworks has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" message and the program crashes with no further information on why it crashed.
His machine setup is as follows:
Windows 7 x64
AMD firepro v4800 graphics card (up to date with latest SW approved driver)
Intel core i5 processor
8GB ram
His machine ran SW 2013 with no issues. Just recently upgraded to 2014 and can't get it to work. Our other 2 users have no issues so its a bit of a puzzler to me.
On a possibly-related note, I had issues with installing the program on his machine becasue his operating system had not updated to Windows 7 SP1.0. I looked back through the update log and realized that it had been trying and failing to update Windows 7 for months. I was finally able to update Windows after booting the machine from the Windows install disk and repairing the installation. After doing this SW installed without an issue and I thought my job was done, but now SW is crashing and I'm not sure what the problem is or how to fix it.
Any help would be appreciated. I am getting my VAR involved but I thought I'd put post up on here to see if anyone has any insight.
Thanks,
Ryan
