Hello, I just upgraded to SolidWorks 2013 SP 5.0. Whenever I try to measure something, the measured value is blocked by the option menu. I cannot see the measurements. Is there any way to solve this problem? Thanks.
You can just drag the measurement box out from under the menu to where you can see it.
I have to do this often when X Y &Z boxes overlap.
Tried it a few times before posting. Didn't work.
Did you upgrade from an older version or just update the SP?
Run the SolidWorks Rx > Diagnostics tool to check for graphics problems.
I upgraded it from 2012. I think I uninstalled it and then installed 2013 using the DVD from the distributor. Where is SolidWorks Rx?
In your Start Menu, under "Solidworks 2013" / "Solidworks Tools"
You probably just need to update the graphics driver. The Rx tool should let you know and give the update link.
The Diagnostics tool could not recognise my device (Apple MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display). I tried to do it manually but on the SolidWorks website, there is no GeForce GT650M listed. (My computer worked when running SolidWorks 2012.) I went to Nvidia website and upgraded the latest driver from Nvidia GeForce GT 650M. Unfortunately, the issue remains.
You will not find the card or the system listed on the SW website because it is not officially supported.
Yes but the card worked in 2012.
Anyway, how do I solve the issue mentioned in the original post?
The fact that it worked okay in 2012 was more luck than anything else. The sorts of graphics glitches shown in the original post are the risk you take in running unsupported hardware.
Only thing to really try would be different graphics drivers and see if you get lucky with one of those working okay.
What do you mean by trying different graphics drivers? I downloaded and installed the latest one from Nvidia website.
It may be that one of the older ones will offer better performance with SolidWorks. For the certified drivers, it is rare that they are the latest from the manufacturer, could be the same with uncertified ones too (clutching at straws a bit here).
