Could you please help tell me how to apply hexagonal structure to convex lens like on flies eyes.
I can model footballs like this but I want to find a quicker way.
That is a very complex geometry. The HEX grid also has a few PENTS. I think that this is derived from the subdivision of an icosohedron. Once the geometry is worked out, I would take a sphere and use lofted cuts from the hex to the center of the sphere. it is possible to make a net of slightly deformed hexes. I have not yet found a good way to generate the geometry. I hope someone has a clever solution.
