I have a part that I have created that needs it's dimensions to be modified on a regular basis. I inserted a design table and I am wondering if when updating the values in the design table is it possible that this will automatically update the corresponding dimensions in the parts? If so, how can I achieve this?
the model gets rebuilt when you exit the design table.
I have tried that and the model doesn't get rebuilt
1) I go to Configuration Manager and choose to "Edit Design Table"
2) I then edit the value of D13@CUTME in the design table
3) I save and exit the design table but no changes occur in the model
For this you need to rebuid teh model once after you exit the table.
If still it doesnot respond then restart SolidWorks once and also reboot your system, i guess then the model will respond accordingly.

Try using the Configure Feature function instead. All configs of the model can be rebuilt while the CF is still open.

without your file, it is difficult to troubleshoot. it should rebuild when you exit the design table.
While using Design table, we can use excel formulas to drive the assembly or parts.
We can have a single default configuration with multiple variants by using formulas in design table only.
i have attacheda simple revolved featured model here for your reference.
You just need to open the design table an dchange the value of L & R as highlighted in Yellow, which automatically changes the driven values and the model gets updated.

For some reason the model doesnt rebuild and reflect the changes I made in the design table once I exit it..I will attach the file later today hopefully we can diagnose the issue

You can use the model attached along in my previous post.
Please check whether this works at your end or not.
If it works then there wiould be some file error, so you can attach the file or some simple trials can be carried ot.

Sorry guys, one more question - how can I link a Global Variable in a design table so I can change that dynamically so that the dimensions attached to that GLobal Variable will alter with it?
Define any dimension as a Link value e.g. "A".
Use A in the design table and also you can use A in any equation to drive.
I have some global variables that are linked to the design table - I also have a few more global variables that have equations in them that use some of the global variables I linked in my design table. The problem arises when I edit the design table..when I go back into Equations Manager there is no longer the equations for the global variables there and the "dynamicness" of the model is lost. Why is this?
weird things happen when you mix SW equations and design tables in a single file. I would recommend using one or the other.
I have tried doing the equations within the design table (excel file) but it keeps telling me to set any equations within the equation manager..
I have never seen a message to that effect. if design tables stop supporting equations, they would loose 90% of their power...
what version of SW are you running?
I am going to attach 2 files:
The first file - is my model without the design table. Please notice how in the equations manager there are global variables with equations that allow them to change dynamically based on other Global Variables
The second file - is my model with the design table. Please notice how in the equations manager the global variables that had equations from the first file no longer have these equations and are therefore no longer changing dynamically based on the other global variables..
