eDrawings 2014 crashes on AMD Radeon HD 8790M

We have been running eDrawings viewer at our company on a mixture of multiple Dell PC's for a few years now, these PC's include Precision, Optiplex and Latitude machines. Since we keep our SolidWorks updated, we also update eDrawings on all the rest of the machines. We just purchased 3 new Dell laptop PC's, Latitude E6540. The E6540 includes the AMD Radeon HD 8790M video card. We were running eDrawings 2013 without any problems, but when we updated to 2014, it crashes every time we open any of our SolidWorks files or DraftSight drawings. The application also crashes if we just select Options from the drop-down menu.

Uninstalling 2014 and installing 2013 fixes the problem, but we need 2014 to view SolidWorks 2014 files.

I am assuming this has to do with video drivers that are not compatible with 2014, but ok with 2013. We have tried latest video drivers and all Latitude drivers from Dell and we still have problems with eDrawings 2014.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thank you Jeremy. That fixed the problem. I do have a concern about what Kelvin Lamport said that Radeon cards are not supported by SolidWorks and we may expect more problems in the future. The only software our Radeon PC users run is eDrawings. Do you forsee a problem with future versions of eDrawings?

I don't know what the future holds for SolidWorks or eDrawings, but I am with Kelvin on the Certified Graphic card/driver while using SolidWorks. It is a system requirement according to http://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/SystemRequirements.html. I wouldn't purchase a computer without one.

On that site scroll down to the requirements for eDrawings. The only system requirement is Windows 7 (or higher). No mention of a certified graphics card for eDrawings. You may lose some functionality (high quality graphics), but I think you should be good as long as you stick to the system requirements for the software you use.
