Is there any way to do an exploded view sketch in Composer, like in SolidWorks. If not, does anyone know if you can put 2 SolidWorks .asm into one Composer .smg?

Karl, the answer to both questions is, yes.
In composer you create exploded views by positioning the components using the transform tools and adding associative or non-associative paths
-and to add additional components to your scene, change the option in the open dialog from adding the file to a new scene to merging it with the current scene
For people experienced with SolidWorks, Composer takes a lot of practice just to get used to its way of doing things. Its interface is a weird mix of conventions, kind of like a mash-up of 3DSMax, SolidWorks and Illustrator. Now if you want to feel like a complete newb to 3D, try doing anything in Blender for the first time.
